The LIQUI-VIEW FAQ page displays all frequently asked questions to us and displays the answers.

What is the maximum flow capacity for different LIQUI-VIEW Base models?

This table shows the maximum flow capacities for different LIQUI-VIEW Base models in several flow units. Please note, these capacities are all shown for Water. Use Fluidat on the Net to calculate to other flow units.

Instrument Model

Max. Flow

40 l/min

What is the amplitude of the square wave pulse output

The amplitude of the pulse/frequency output is ca. 0,25V lower than the supply voltage.

Can the LIQUI-VIEW be used in the vertical position?

The LIQUI-VIEW may be mounted in any position.

When positioning the instrument in vertical position make sure that the piping/tube is always completely filled with water.
When there is an shut off valve on the bottom make sure not to open the valve in one motion.
This causes an free fall and causes air to come in to the tube, this causes a wrong measurement, counter pressure is advisable

Does the LIQUI-VIEW-AD also work without a display? Are they interchangeable?

The LIQUI-VIEW AD models are calibrated as one unit.
The instrument will not work without the display. Also, the sensor will not work if it’s connected directly with the cable.

Displays are not interchangeable on other models.
There are no separate displays for sale.

There are 2 warranty seals on the instrument to prevent loosening.

IP Rating and NEMA Rating

The IP Rating (Ingress Protection Rating) of an instrument consists of the letters IP followed by two digits and an optional letter.  As defined in international standard IEC 60529, it classifies the degrees of protection provided against the intrusion of solid objects including body parts like hands and fingers, dust, and accidental contact (the first digit after IP), and water (the second digit after IP) in electrical enclosures. IP Rating Chart
The National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) in the United States also publishes protection ratings for enclosures similar to the IP rating system published by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC). NEMA however also dictates other product features not addressed by IP codes, such as corrosion resistance, gasket aging, and construction practices. NEMA Rating Chart
For this reason while it is possible to map IP Codes to NEMA ratings that satisfy or exceed the IP Code criteria, it is not possible to map NEMA ratings to IP codes, as the IP Code does not mandate the additional requirements. IP to NEMA

What happens during measurement with a vortex meter when the tube vibrates ?

In general, vortex meters are sensitive to vibrations and impact shocks. Therefore vibrations and impact shocks should be prevented in the neighbourhood of the meter.

Which liquids can be measured with LIQUI-VIEW Base?

Water and all water like liquids which are not flammable, corrosive or toxic.
With the following definitions we are able to correct the influence of media with higher viscosity than water (= media viscosit y > 1.8 cST) in order to reach a measuring accuracy of 3% fs in the range of 1.8 – 4 cST and of 4% in the range of 4 – 14 cSt (υ= viscosity in cSt).

Vortex technology, how does it work?

A Kármán vortex street is a term for a repeating pattern of swirling vortices caused by the unsteady separation of flow of a fluid over bluff bodies. It is named after the engineer and fluid dynamicist, Theodore von Kármán.
